Using a russian keyboard

You need a standard russian keyboard if you want to search for russian words written in the cyrillic alphabet.
If you don't have a russian keyboard installed on your system, follow these instructions.

Windows XP
Start > Settings > Control panel
(category: Date, time, language and international options) > International options and language
Language tab > Details > Add
Input language: Russian; keyboard layout: Russian
Ok > Apply
select the key shortcut to switch from one keyboard layout to another with Key settings
or simply use the language icon in the bottom-right corner of the status bar.

Windows 7 and Vista
Start > Contro panel > Country and language
Keyboards and languages tab > Change keyboard > Add
expand the item Russian > Keyboard and select Russian
Ok > Apply
select the key shortcut to switch from one keyboard layout to another with Advanced key settings
or simply use the language icon in the bottom-right corner of the status bar.

Macintosh
Apple > System preferences > International > Keyboard
or Apple > System preferences > Language and text > Input source
select Russian and check Keyboard layout and characters
from Keyboard shortcut > select on the left Keyboard and text input
and activate the items Select previous and next resource
or simply use the language icon in the upper-right corner of the status bar.

Linux
Example under Ubuntu:
System > Preferences > Keyboard
Layouts > Add
country: Russia; variant: Russia > Add
select the key shortcut to switch from one keyboard layout to another with Options > Keys to change layout
or simply use the language icon in the upper-right corner of the status bar.

Layout of the standard russian keyboard
If you are not used to the russian layout, you may select your platform and keep the popup open.
